Part one of a three part series on Ohio Optometric Association Award winners.
Karla Zadnik, OD, PhD, is the 2009 Ohio Optometrist of the Year. Dr. Zadnik serves as the Associate Dean at The Ohio State University College of Optometry where she is also the Glenn A. Fry Professor in Optometry and Physiological Optics. The award was presented October 3 at the annual meeting of the Ohio Optometric Association in Cleveland.
She conducts patient-based vision research and has received continuous federal funding from the National Institutes of Health since 1991. She also chairs the University’s Biomedical Sciences Institutional Review Board and IRB Policy Committee.
Dr. Zadnik serves as the President-Elect of the American Academy of Optometry and the Medical Director for the Ohio Optometric Association’s Realeyes Classroom Initiative.
Dr. Zadnik and her husband,Kurt Zadnik, reside in Worthington with their two daughters.
Representing over 1,400 optometrists, the Ohio Optometric Association promotes high quality eye and vision care for the residents of Ohio.
