Part three of a three-part series on the Ohio Optometric Association awards

Erich Hinel is the 2009 Ohio Optometric Association (OOA) Outstanding Senior Student. The award was presented October 3 during the annual meeting of the OOA in Cleveland. The award was given for his outstanding professional interest and public concern.

Mr. Hinel is a fourth year optometry student at The Ohio State University College of Optometry where he is enrolled in the combined OD/MS program. He hopes to complete a residency after optometry school. Mr. Hinel completed his undergraduate degree at Grand Valley State University (Allendale, Michigan). He is currently vice-president of the American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) Executive Council and chair of the AOSA Legislative Actions Committee. He is a student member of the American Academy of Optometry and is a Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society member.
