Study of Theories About Myopia Progression (STAMP)

At this time, it's not known what causes a child to become more nearsighted (myopic).

The Study of Theories About Myopia Progression is a 2 year study where children will be randomly chosen to wear regular glasses (single vision lenses) or no-line bifocal glasses (progressive

addition lenses) for the first year of the study. During the second year, children will wear regular glasses. The study will compare how the eye changes shape in the two groups to help us understand why children become nearsighted.

Who can join?
  • Nearsighted children who have never worn bifocal glasses or contact lenses
  • 6 to 11 years old
  • Able to participate for 2 years
Why join STAMP?
  • Two years of free eye examinations from experienced optometrists
  • Two years of free glasses
