Welcome to The Ohio State University College of Optometry, an exciting and dynamic institution in which to learn, work, and serve! As you can see, we have much to offer our students, faculty and staff, alumni, and members of the community.
Teaching students in the discipline of optometry is one of our primary goals. Whether our students wish to enter the professional world as skilled optometrists or the academic world as dedicated teachers and researchers, we offer a course of study to suit their needs.

opportunities with industry; and last but certainly not least, our new E.F. Wildermuth Optometric Research Clinic. The Wildermuth Clinic will provide extra space for our dynamic vision research labs along with a state-of the-art research clinic. Features include a comfortable reception area for our large population of research subjects; space designed to meet the special needs of infants and children; and unique data collection facilities for seniors and special populations.
Our alumni are very active and invested in our continued success. They have acquired not only an excellent education but also a deep sense of caring and commitment which they carry forward into their professional lives as well as give back to their alma mater. Ohio boasts one of the highest memberships among state optometric associations.
The public at large has access to full clinical services, providing care to over 55,000 patients a year. Even more than that, surrounding communities benefit from the expertise of our graduates who participate in extern and residency programs at various healthcare facilities around the state.
