Q&A
What brought you to the College of Optometry?
I have been a clinical attending for The Ohio State University College of Optometry since graduation. Following graduation, I completed an Ocular Disease Residency at the Louis Stokes Cleveland Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and this is when I first started precepting Ohio State and Illinois College of Optometry interns. I then was a clinical attending at an Advanced Extern Site for Ohio State Optometry for five years. Following that, I returned exclusively to Ohio State.
Describe your typical day at work or describe your position/role.
I am currently an Assistant Clinical Professor and Chief of the Primary Vision Care (PVC) Service. I am a clinical attending in PVC with third-year students, the Opt 2 Clinic with second-year students, and the Upper Arlington Clinic with fourth-year students. I am also a teaching assistant in the clinical skills labs with the second-year students. During the spring semester, I am the instructor of record for Optometry 7790 Surgery and Co-Management of Ocular Disease for third years and Optometry 6410.02 Introduction to Primary Care Testing II for first-year optometry students.
What brings you the most joy in your work?
The most joy in my work comes from seeing the students turn into clinicians. I enjoy helping them to succeed as they gain confidence and independence in themselves.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
Spend time with my family (husband Terry Daniel and children, Hannah, 7, and Logan, 2) and friends, walk in the neighborhood and Metroparks.
