Homecoming Events Reunite Colleagues
Before Ohio State defeated the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the College of Optometry celebrated homecoming with close to 200 alumni, faculty, staff and guests in the Fawcett Center! It was a great morning full of energy and excitement before the game! Alumni from all over the country attended the tailgate and reminisced about their time in college with fellow classmates, showing Ohio State campus to their children, and preparing to display their Buckeye pride by cheering on the Buckeyes!
Hazael Edward Welton Breakfast Celebrates Accomplishments, Connects Alumni and Students
Concluding Homecoming Weekend, we welcomed about 20 faculty, students and alumni to the Bad Habits Lounge for the Hazael Edward Welton Breakfast, which celebrates the accomplishments of African American and Hispanic students and alumni. On a beautiful Sunday morning, everyone enjoyed coffee and pastries while college updates were provided, students networked with alumni, and the morning ended with a tour of the Optometry Clinic.
Memories Sparkle Among Golden Graduates
In September, we welcomed 15 Golden Graduates from The Ohio State University College of Optometry, class of 1974, and their guests. We had a fantastic evening at the Faculty Club, listening to the Golden Graduates share tons of great memories and jokes, and presenting the Golden Graduates with their 50-year certificates! For some graduates, this event was their first time back on campus in 50 years, and they thoroughly enjoyed seeing all that has changed! The Golden Graduates ended their weekend with a tour of the new Optometry Clinic, and some chose to attend that week’s football game.
