1960s

Wayne Collier (BS’65) of Bucyrus, Ohio, retired in December 2025.

In September 2025, David Glick (OD’69) visited campus from Florida with his wife Carolyn Glick to celebrate their 90th birthdays. Joanie Leake (Carolyn’s daughter) and Jim Leake (Joanie’s husband) joined the fun. Dave is a member of the Space Coast Florida Alumni Club and a former TBDBITL. Their special weekend included lunch with Dean Zadnik at the Faculty Club, a stadium tour, Skull session, and a football game against Ohio University.

1970s

BuckEYE Bob Newcomb (OD’71, MPH) and his wife Pam recently re-connected in Charlotte with David King (OD’86) and his wife Susan David was Bob’s resident at the Columbus VA in 1986-1987.

Larry Cusma (OD’75) married Kathy Ratajczak on June 27, 2025.

Alex Wood (OD’75) and Brian McCarty were married in November 2025.

W. Howard McAlister OD’77, MPH) received a Retiree of the Year award at the University of Missouri-St. Louis 2025 Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence on August 29, 2025. Before retiring in 2016, Dr. McAlister was an Associate Professor at the UMSL College of Optometry.

1990s

John Barnhart (OD’91) welcomed twin grandsons Archer and Griffin on September 24, 2025.

2010s

Valerie Gardner (OD’11) and husband Dustin Gardner (OD’11, MS’13) welcomed son Tag Albert in Summer 2025.

Maggie Armbruster (neé Nikituk) (OD’18) and husband Ryan Armbruster welcomed son Hudson on January 5, 2025.

Ashley Fritz (OD’18) and husband Dane Fritz welcomed their third child, Noah, on July 30, 2025. He joins big brother Aiden (5) and big sister Charlotte (2).

Marielle Reidy (OD/MS’19) and family welcomed daughter Maeve Annaleigh Reid born in October 2025. She joins big brother Owen.

E. Connor Smallwood (OD’19) and wife Amanda Smallwood welcomed daughter Molly in September 2025. She joined big brother William and big sister Amy.
