Tell us a special story that relates to your career now.
I would have never guessed I'd be living in Michigan but my husbands residency brought us here and I couldn't be happier with my career move. I love my offices and am enjoying the Metro Detroit area and all it has to offer.
What’s one thing you learned during your education which has affected you most in your career?
I learned it's ok to not always have the answer. I still rely on my books or colleagues for reference when needed.
Why did you choose a career in optometry?
I wanted to be in the medical field without the hospital life. I also wanted an opportunity to work with all ages of patients.
What optometric issues concern you the most?
Third party plan reimbursements and vision care plans in general. They delegate cost too much instead of focusing on good patient care.
Why are you passionate about your career?
My job allows me to spend time with patients and explain conditions and treatment options without ever feeling rushed. I like knowing my patients leave informed.
Advice for other aspiring optometrists.
It's a great lifestyle with rewarding benefits and well worth the time and money spent in school.
