Andrew Hartwick
Associate Professor
Biography
Andrew Hartwick OD, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the College of Optometry at Ohio State University. He trained at Dalhousie University (Halifax, Nova Scotia), where he received his Ph.D. in Anatomy & Neurobiology, and at the University of Waterloo (Ontario), where he received both O.D. and M.Sc. (in Vision Science) degrees. Dr. Hartwick’s research, involving both basic laboratory and clinically applied studies, is primarily directed towards understanding how a subset of retinal ganglion cells are able to capture light and convert it into an electrical signal, and determining the mechanisms underlying the increased light sensitivity that often occurs after traumatic brain injury.
