Biography

Dr. Schoessler received the Doctor of Optometry degree in 1966 and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Physiological Optics in 1968 and 1971 respectively from The Ohio State University where he now serves as Dean Emeritus of the College of Optometry. His teaching and research interests have been primarily directed toward effects of long-term contact lens wear on the corneal tissue, and he has received grant awards from the National Eye Institute and other agencies to study contact lens effects on the corneal endothelium. 

Dr. Schoessler is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. His professional activities have covered a wide range including service as editor of the publication Contact Lens Update, past vice president of the Board of Directors of the Vision Center of Central Ohio, past member of the Council on Optometric Education, and present member of the Board of Directors of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry.
