Professor Teng Leng Ooi, PhD joins the faculty of the College of Optometry tomorrow.
Dr. Ooi joins us from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, where she has been a member of the faculty since 2002 and a full professor since 2007. She received her optometry training at the University of New South Wales and her PhD at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She currently holds a grant from the National Eye Institute, “Improving binocular vision through perceptual learning.” Her current research interests center on mechanisms of binocular rivalry as they relate to binocular suppression and stereopsis, perceptual learning, space perception, optical imaging of V1 cortical activities underlying binocular rivalry, and a "Push-Pull" perceptual learning protocol that may have implications for amblyopia therapy. At her previous institutions she has taught ocular motility, monocular sensory processes, binocular vision, and optics.
