Walline Appointed to Graduate Council
Jeffrey J. Walline, OD, MS, PhD, The Ohio State University College of Optometry’s Associate Dean for Research, has been appointed to serve a three-year term as a member of the university’s Graduate Council.
The Graduate Council is the principal advisory body of Ohio State’s Graduate School. Council members participate in the development of rules, policies, and standards pertaining to graduate education, graduate associates, and graduate fellowships and to act on any questions affecting those policies. Council also reviews proposals for new or revised graduate degree programs, graduate minors, graduate interdisciplinary specializations, and other curricular matters. Faculty from a range of graduate programs make up its membership.
“Associate Dean for Research Jeff Walline is passionate about graduate education, in vision science and in general,” says College of Optometry Dean Karla Zadnik, OD, PhD. “He is the perfect person to join colleagues from the Colleges of Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine on the Council. He will represent the health sciences exceedingly well.”
“I am very pleased to serve on the Graduate Council, which serves as the principal advisory body of the Graduate School. I will gain a better understanding of the opportunities for graduate students and the rules governing their education. This will help me maximize graduate student learning experiences while learning more about the governance of the university,” says Dr. Walline.
