Summer OEI Conference Will Be Virtual for 2020

The Annual Summer Conference hosted by Optometric Educators Inc. and The Ohio State University College of Optometry will be held virtually this year.

We will offer a total of 14 hours of continuing education. Of these, eight hours will be offered in a live webinar format, with four hours offered on Saturday, July 25, and four hours on Sunday, July 26. New Non-Resident Tuition Model Relieves Burden for Out-of-State Students

Our goal is simple--admit the 68 best first-year optometry students in the country. We want the future leaders, the next generation of professors, and the most successful practitioners. If you have the abilities, experiences, drive, and dedication that make you want to excel at the most comprehensive health sciences center in the country, then our program is for you.   – Dean Karla Zadnik

A Message from Dean Karla Zadnik

“Justice is what love looks like in public.” – Cornel West, PhD

Words truly fail. 2020 was to be our year of vision. Now we feel like it’s the year we know we needed to see; we must not look away. We must continue to strive to rise above society’s racist demons and to emerge more just, better, and kinder.

Contact Lens Wearers Encouraged to Continue Routine Hygiene Practices

Now more than ever, avoiding touching your face and diligent hand washing are of vital importance, regardless of whether or not you are a contact lens wearer.

However, you don’t need to ditch your contact lenses for glasses as suggested by recent news reports on COVID-19 prevention measures, according to Dr. Jeffrey Walline, associate dean for research at The Ohio State University College of Optometry.

A Message Regarding Spring Commencement

A message from Michael V. Drake, MD, President, The Ohio State University

Dear Ohio State Community:

Following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recommendation that no large events be scheduled over the next eight weeks, we have postponed our spring commencement.

Our preference is to reschedule for later this spring, but it is premature to select a new date at this time. We will continue to evaluate information as we receive it and communicate a decision later this month.

HR offices/in-person service requests

The health and safety of our employees, their families, and those we interact with daily is a priority. Effective immediately, please utilize phone/email/fax or drop box (for campus, located in the 3rd floor elevator lobby at 1590 N. High Street) to communicate, provide paperwork, etc., in lieu of walk-in services. For Wexner Medical Center, please utilize phone/email/fax for HR services, including Verification of Employment and Change of Information forms.
